Draftsperson (Full-Time) - Baton Rouge, LA
- Days and hours of work are Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
JOB OVERVIEW
- DSLD Homes, LLC is seeking a full-time Architectural CAD Draftsperson. The ideal candidate possesses proficiency in residential drafting, detailed knowledge of residential construction practices, and the ability to translate schematic designs into finished working drawings.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design plans for new models
- Interpret and implement building code changes
- Update existing plans to reflect feature and specification changes, with an emphasis on value engineering and office-related cost variance reduction
- Communicate any substantial plan changes to Design Department Manager
- Specify materials, trims, fixtures, and construction assemblies (floor joist, floor sheathing, roof deck layouts, etc.)
- Prepare inked floor plans for sales brochures
- Oversee the production of construction drawings and make sure they are fully coordinated with structural calculations, and that structural drawings are sealed and signed
- Solicit trade contractor input to enhance value engineering of floor plans and construction drawings
- Determine, based on input, if homes’ energy-efficiency, cost-effectiveness, construction methods, quality, etc., can be improved
- Field Walks with plans department and field personnel to ensure accuracy of plans
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Design Department Manager
- Produce new architectural working drawings and related documents from conceptual sketches
- Modify and maintain existing construction drawings
- Fitting house plans footprints on each lot within a subdivision
- Create colored renderings in Photoshop for home sales brochures
JOB REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a construction environment with AutoCad/AutoCad Architecture
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop strongly preferred
- Demonstrated blend of creative and analytical skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work in a team environment, coordinating and consulting with others to design, lay out and/or detail plan
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize
