The Packaging Engineering Manager will provide purpose, direction, and motivation while operating to accomplish the goals and improving the Manufacturing Engineering Group. They will provide guidance and expertise towards the final stage development, scale up, and commercialization of new and existing product lines and tooling for Polymer, Device and Natural Material COE’s. They will be managing a team of Engineers and Technicians tasked with developing and/or improving current and future dsm-firmenich Biomedical materials based machinery/tooling and products/ processes. They will direct or participate on project teams within the PMP/project management process. This position manages product lifecycle support for running business. This position evaluates and investigates new technologies and potential relationships with outside companies’ products in support of the Strategic Business Initiatives.

Requirements
- Cultivate a team with the expertise to identify and optimize product/ process variables required for maximizing product/ process performance at a lab/ pilot, and full production scale
- Cultivate a team with the expertise to evaluate final product specifications by prototyping products/ processes and performing experiments; from lab to production scale
- Promote the Invention / development of novel process concepts for new process and machinery/tooling development, and evaluate concepts based upon manufacturing key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Prove product/process performance at prototype, lab/pilotscale, and full production scale
- Manage evaluation of scale up options, selection, & implementation by leading projects, providing project updates, and offering input for the next phases
- Review & approve all necessary documentation to support new/or improved process scale up to manufacturing
- Provide feed back on tooling developed to improve new and current processes.
- Manage evaluation of potential new product/ process proposals and provide recommendations as to the scope and necessary timing required for specific production targets
- Develop and review project plans, cost estimates, schedules, and resource requirements.
- Develop and support customer quotations for new/changes to products/ processes
- Manage improvement of infrastructure and capabilities
- Analyze results of experiments against objectives/targets
- Lead Manufacturing Reviews of new products and process improvements.
- Cultivate a team with the expertise to provide in-house development and/or technical leadership to Research & Development, Commercialization, and Operations Groups.
- Manage investigations and improvements into manufacturing product/ processing issues, focusing on tooling/ machinery improvements and Lean Principles.
- Manage continuous improvement of products/ processes to achieve improvements in productivity, yield and/or operating costs
- Manage investigation into customer complaints
- Cultivate a team with the expertise to conduct and/ or participate in Engineering Change
- Notice Board (ECN), Management of Change (MOC), HAZOP, PSA, MSA review processes.

- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Engineering — Biomedical, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Materials or related field. Master’s degree in Business is beneficial
- Extensive experience in acquisition and installation of packaging equipment in a manufacturing/cGMP environment
- Packaging process development experience: manual to high-speed packaging processes
- Minimum 5 years of people management/supervisory experience
- Hands-on experience managing and driving a packaging engineering team/process
- Familiarity with labeling and IFU requirements in a regulated industry
