SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Assist with construction projects and perform general duties involving physical labor. Laborers work construction projects, excavations, and demolition. Operate a variety of equipment including hand and power tools, air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, and surveying and measuring equipment. Perform many tasks that require physical strength such as loading and unloading equipment and materials
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow all DeMaria processes and procedures as outlined in the corporate manual
- Provide assistance to craft workers with material, layout, and installation of products
- Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications
- Operate a variety of equipment including hand and power tools: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, and surveying and measuring equipment
- Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures
- Assist in the building and positioning of forms for pouring concrete, and dismantle forms after use with saws, hammers, nails, or bolts
- Apply form release agent
- Set up concrete pump systems
- Properly place concrete in formed walls and flatwork
- Proper use of concrete vibration equipment
- Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
- Perform various tasks during all stages of construction
- Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery, equipment, and tools
- Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones
- Ability to work as a team member and foster a cooperative work environment
QUALIFICATIONS (Skills, Knowledge, Experience)
- High School Graduate or GED
- Profound knowledge of safe work practices, including safety precautions for operating power equipment, working in traffic, and under hazardous conditions
- Must be alert, have good judgment, and be physically strong and in good health
- Must be familiar with the duties of other craft workers and with the materials, tools, and machinery they use
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction
- Able to understand verbal and written instructions
- Adept at establishing relationships with all parties involved in the construction process to facilitate harmonious working relationships during projects
- Able to organize assigned tasks to completion, alone or with help
- Able to complete and fulfill paperwork required for personal time sheets
- Able to communicate with the public and co- workers in a tactful and effective manner
- Possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Able to spend large amounts of time outdoors, even in inclement weather
- Able to handle demands of the job including heavy lifting, stooping, carrying, and bending, occasionally at great heights
- Possible exposure to hazardous materials and fumes
- Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and movement of the whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
- Must have manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, good physical fitness, and sense of balance
- Able to lift and manipulate objects 55-80 lbs.
- Able to perform work involving prolonged periods of standing, stooping, reaching, crawling, and climbing
