What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional position at DSP Talent?
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to work in Norfolk, NE. DSPs provide support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a variety of settings to ensure they have a meaningful life.
We support people 24 hours a day, 7 days a week which allows us to offer a variety of schedule options to our team members.
Higher wages offered for evenings, weekends, and overnights.
Duties may include:
- Supporting people in understanding and exercising their rights
- Improving social connections and relationships
- Providing transportation for those you are supporting
- Teaching skills to improve a person’s life
- Supporting a person with personal hygiene and medical-related needs, including medication administration
- Providing documentation at the end of each shift
Vocational: Monday through Fridays during the Day
Residential: Evenings, Weekends, and Overnights
This position is scheduled in shifts so Weekend availability is REQUIRED.
DSPs who work at residential and vocational locations support individuals with planned activities that encourage community inclusion, habilitation, and activities of daily living.
Supported Services: Days, Evenings, Weekends
As a DSP working in Supported Services, you will be supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities at their jobs, in the community, and in their homes. The job coaching component of this position focuses on supporting people in seeking and maintaining competitive employment, while in-home support can be a variety of day-to-day activities in the home and out in the community.
Payment rate: depending on location and service provided: from 15.00$ to 16.00$ per hour

Requirements
- This work can be physically demanding in some situations, for example: support with lifting individuals to and from wheelchairs
- An essential function of the DSP role is providing transportation. We require all DSPs to have a reliable vehicle at every shift.
- Education/Experience: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Successfully complete and pass all checks (Adult Protective Services Central Registry, Child Protective Services Central Registry, State Patrol Criminal Background Check, Federal Bureau of Investigation Background Check)
- Certificates and Licenses: Valid driver’s license
