DSSI is currently hiring Material Handlers in the Milford, TX area!!
In this position the Material Handler will operate industrial lift truck moving material from staging area throughout plant as needed. This position requires on-site presence and regular attendance to perform the essential duties.
Responsibilities:
- Moves raw and finished materials throughout the production shops.
- Empties chip bins when needed.
- Moves coolant tank for filling.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment / Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work settings range from clean indoor lab to unprotected outdoor environments. The employee frequently handles packaged/boxed explosives, explosive articles and/or explosive powders and pellets. This may also involve instructing others in the proper handling, use, storage and transportation of these explosives. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee frequently works with powders, sometimes in a dusty environment and occasionally around fumes. Workers must not be overly sensitive (allergies, rashes, etc.) to working in these conditions. While rare, any accident could be catastrophic and potentially result in injury or death to many employees.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to handle or feel objects, and activate tools or controls, reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Stand, walk, sit, climb or balance; and twist, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities that are required by this job include: close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. These vision requirements relate to obtaining a valid driver’s license and recognizing current Hazmat warning labels or markings that are color coded.
General Requirements:
- One (1) to three (3) months related experience and/or training is preferred.
- Shall have at least six (6) months experience in the operation of a lift truck.
