POSITION: Special Education Coordinator

GRADE LEVEL: Hiring for both middle school and high school positions

SALARY: $60,000-$78,000 based on aligned years of experience up to 10 years. We also offer a relocation stipend for anyone joining us from 75 miles or more from Denver! Please note that the salary scale for the 2025-26 school year has increased to $60,000 -78,000. On 7/1/25, you will automatically receive a raise to match this scale if you continue with us to the 2025-26 school year.

STATUS: Full time school year, benefits eligible, exempt, in-person position

Key Roles & Responsibilities

The Special Education Coordinator is a stipended Teacher Leader role that requires 3 years of experience teaching as a licensed Special Educator. The SpEd Coordinator will fulfill all of the responsibilities as the Special Education teacher, as well as, engage in additional leadership opportunities such as collaboration with the SpEd Admin and Service Providers to co-lead SpEd meetings, team goals, and ensure compliance expectations are met.   • Plan and deliver culturally responsive instruction in co-taught, push-in, and/or pull-out settings
  • Serve as case manager to a portfolio of students; completing tasks such as writing data driven IEPs, developing goals, monitoring progress, delivering targeted academic & behavioral interventions, and celebrating success with each student’s team of teachers and family along the way
  • Partner with general education teachers to appropriately implement accommodations and modifications with intentionality and consistency
  • Advocate for and champion all diverse learners in the school by participating on the MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) Team
  • Additional duties as assigned such as supporting student recruitment, running a small group advisory class, after school tutoring, etc. See many of our possible duties here.


Leadership

  • Collaborate with SpEd Administrator to facilitate effective, weekly SpEd/Special Services team meetings.
  • Co-audit IEPs alongside SpEd Admin and align on development opportunities.
  • Ensure all SpEd teachers are supported in complying with all aspects of case management.
  • Review the IEP calendar to ensure that events are spread out across the year and ensure strong systems are in place to meet deadlines.
  • Co-lead weekly meetings that support team with complex compliance situations and meeting deadlines.
  • Support team with IEP and Evaluation quality using IEP Quality Checklist.
  • Collaborate with SpEd Admin to lead necessary grade level and staff PD focused on Special Education.
  • Ensure that all teachers on Sped Team collect data to monitor student progress on IEP goals.




Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3 years as a licensed special education teacher
