Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Air Import Coordinator to manage and oversee the importation of automotive vehicles via air freight. This role is responsible for coordinating and ensuring the smooth, compliant, and timely import process, working closely with overseas offices, customs brokers, and internal teams to support the efficient delivery of vehicles.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate end-to-end air import shipments of automotive vehicles, including working with overseas partners, arranging pickups, and managing delivery schedules.
- Prepare import documentation including EPA forms, DOT Forms and temporary import statements, to facilitate the import process for our automotive customers.
- Review air waybills, commercial invoices, and packing list to ensure full compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, import laws, and company policies related to automotive shipments.
- Communicate with airlines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other logistics partners to monitor and track shipments and provide updates to customers as needed
- Work closely with internal departments such as sales, customs brokerage and warehouse teams to ensure customer requirements and timelines are met.
- Manage payments to airlines, car carrier and/or other logistic partners.
- Handle billing of freight charges, and provide backup documentation related to air imports.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings within the air import operations.
- Manage relationships with customers and provide exceptional customer service
Educational background / Work experience
- Prior experience in freight forwarding operations and International Logistics, or a related field is preferred
- Experience in air imports is highly preferred
Skills & Competencies
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, such as calculating costs and rates
Other Skills
- Experience in air import coordination, preferably in the automotive or transportation industry.
- Strong knowledge of import documentation requirements, preferably in the automotive sector.
- Experience working with automotive vehicles or related cargo is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with freight forwarding operations and international logistics.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
Function / Market & Industry Knowledge / Business Acumen / Processes
- Knowledge of air freight logistics and customs regulations
- Understanding of trade laws and regulations
Language skills
- Fluency in English is required
- Knowledge of additional languages is a plus
Computer Literacy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with logistics software and systems is preferred
