Summary
The Ocean Import Senior Team Lead will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the ocean import team. This includes ensuring that shipments are handled efficiently and effectively, maintaining compliance with all regulations, and providing excellent customer service. The Senior Team Lead will also serve as a mentor and coach to team members, providing guidance and support as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of the ocean import team, including assigning work, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with all regulations and company policies
Provide guidance and support to team members, serving as a mentor and coach to help develop their skills and knowledge
Manage customer relationships, including handling inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction
Coordinate with other departments and teams, including export teams, customs brokers, and transportation providers, to ensure seamless operations
Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers, vendors, and other partners to ensure high-quality service and competitive pricing
Ensure timely and accurate documentation, including bills of lading, customs forms, and other required documentation
Monitor industry trends and developments, and make recommendations for process improvements and cost savings
Communicate with management and other stakeholders on a regular basis to provide updates on team performance, customer issues, and other relevant information
Educational background / Work experience
Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred, but not required
At least 5 years of experience in ocean import operations or a related field is required
Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role is preferred
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of ocean import regulations, procedures, and documentation requirements
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members, customers, and partners
Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions based on that data
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Function / Market & Industry Knowledge / Business Acumen / Processes
Supervisory Responsibilities (if any)
The Ocean Import Senior Team Lead will be responsible for overseeing the work of the ocean import team, which may include supervising team members and coordinating with other departments and teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in logistics or supply chain management is preferred
Prior experience working with ocean carriers, customs brokers, and transportation providers is a plus
Experience with industry-specific software, such as CargoWise or Descartes, is a plus
Language skills
Fluent in English (oral and written)
Computer Literacy
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required

For this position, the expected base pay is: $62,500 - $84,500 / Annual. Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, geographical location, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
