Plant Operator - Shreveport, Louisiana

Job Summary

Employee in this position is responsible formonitoring plant operation processes, document performance metrics, and make performance adjustments as needed to meet production specifications. Uses on-board computer and automated equipment. Requires knowledge of hands-on operations for mine plants and related processes.

Key Accountabilities

• Consistently and professionally performs responsibilities in a safe, caring, dependable, and efficient manner.
• Adheres to all Gen6 Proppants safety and environmental requirements and participates in program development and reviews.
• Works with Team Lead for production planning.
• Inspects plant area and equipment prior to beginning of shift and document as required.
• Knowledgeable with all production equipment associated with the plant along with all operating processes.
• Operates equipment based upon established procedures.
• Monitors inventory levels for inflow and outflow of products.
• Performs quality control and assurance sample collection and testing.
• Maintains operation of all plant facilities in accordance with operating guidelines and instructions, including shutting down operating equipment and tracking downtime events per company procedures.
• May use front-end loader to feed product into the plant.
• Communicates with material handlers, other plant operators, and truck drivers as required.
• May perform some maintenance and housekeeping tasks as required.
• Makes any necessary process and/or control adjustments to meet production targets or product quality specifications.
• Perform duties in compliance with all associated regulations (MSHA, OSHA, etc.) which include documentation and reporting for each regulation.
• Collects operating data and records data on daily log sheets whether paper or computer files.
• May operate other plants and equipment as required.
• Performs special projects and job-related duties as assigned.
• Must maintain strict confidentiality at all times, including the ability to recognize saturations in which confidentiality is required.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with company managers, coworkers, clients, contractors, vendors and the public.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Two years of experience required
• Knowledge in silica sand mine, MSHA Part 46, OSHA regulation and compliance.
• Knowledge of dry sand mine process flow including experience with all mining equipment in operations.

Other Requirements:

• Must have valid driver’s license.
• Must pass criminal history background check and drug screening test and will be subject to random, for-cause and post-accident drug testing, in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
• Ability to communicate clearly and accurately in oral and written format.
• Ability to prepare reports and logically present facts and information.
• Ability to read and understand procedural and safety manuals.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks and projects in a timely manner.
• Must be able to work independently, with minimum supervision.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed primarily outdoors, in high noise, high and low temperature areas with some exposure to environmental stress.
• Work is performed out of doors in all weather conditions and uneven terrain.
• Proper personal protective equipment must be worn for all work duties.
• Work is performed in a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, with 7 days on and 7 days off. There will occasionally be on call to check availability to fill in.
• Must be able to remain calm and focused during emergency situations.
• Requires excellent driving skills and driving record.
• Frequently be exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
• Work in high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); fumes or airborne particles; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
• The noise level in the work environment may be above 90 dB.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
