Overview
The Pipeline Weld Instructor is responsible for training and assessing students of 25/8 Safety in pipeline welding techniques, safety procedures, and industry standards. This role requires extensive hands-on welding experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to teach various welding processes, including SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW, with a focus on pipeline applications.
Duties
· Develop and deliver training programs on pipeline welding techniques, including proper jointpreparation, welding procedures, and inspection standards.
· Provide hands-on instruction and classroom-based training in various welding methods, such as stick welding (SMAW), TIG welding (GTAW), and MIG welding (GMAW), with an emphasis on pipeline welding.
· Educate students on industry codes and standards (e.g., API 1104, ASME, AWS D1.1) and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
· Demonstrate proper use of welding equipment, tools, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
· Assess students’ or employees’ skills through practical and written evaluations, ensuring they meet industry competency levels.
· Maintain welding equipment, training materials, and safety protocols within the training facility.
· Provide individualized coaching and mentorship to improve welding techniques and troubleshooting skills.
· Stay up to date with advancements in pipeline welding technology and industry best practices.
· Work closely with industry partners, employers, and certification agencies to align training with workforce needs.
· Prepare students for industry-recognized welding certifications and performance qualification tests.
Qualifications
· Extensive experience as a pipeline welder / fitter, preferably in oil and gas or industrial pipeline construction.
· Experience with low hydrogen open root (7016) SMAW, RMD or STT GMAW
· Certification in pipeline welding (e.g., API 1104, AWS, ASME) preferred.
· Prior teaching or training experience is an asset.
· Strong understanding of welding codes, blueprint reading, and non-destructive testing methods.
· Ability to demonstrate and explain welding techniques with clarity and patience.

Education and Experience:

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
