What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Security for TGNC Housing Facility - Long Island City / Queens position at DT?
The Director of Security manages the day-to-day safety operations of a TGNC shelter. As the DOS, you will manage and direct a team of security and safety professionals including hiring and selection, scheduling, training, coaching, development, and support. Completes annual evaluation of the Security and Safety Plans and updates and/or revises Security and Safety Plans annually.
LGBTQIA Friendly is a must. DHS, Housing, CARES is a plus!
Assures compliance of all inspections and DT policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, coordinate, supervise and evaluate safety activities and regulations of the facility; coordinate public safety issues and programs with facility administration.
- Develop policies and procedures to implement directives from facility administration and/or central office management.
- Travel to each facility daily doing unscheduled spot checks.
- Control exiting and entry of residents/staff/visitors.
- Review performance and effectiveness of safety procedure and consult with Administrator regarding any changes or issues.
- Ensure the proper and timely reporting of incidents to Facility Administration and central office management and Human Resources.
- Attend meetings or workshops to keep abreast of current trends in public safety.
- Train and supervise subordinate personnel.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers, supervisors, and clients.
- Exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions.
- Inspect entire facility physical premises and all residential units to ensure compliance with FDNY and DHS guidelines.
- Act as liaison with NYPD/FDNY as required.
- Maintain fire safety regulations.
- Ensure that certificates of fitness are current for all security staff for fire guard/fire life safety director
- Ensure that all staff are up to date with mandated certifications and licenses.
- Be available for emergency calls.
Required Skills/Abilities: *
- Extensive knowledge of fire prevention, safety, and security operations.
- Experience working with LGBTQIA and sexually exploited community
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
