The Impact you will have in this role:

The Database Engineering team is responsible for handling the Distributed Databases, Automation, and Business intelligence technologies.

Your Primary Responsibilities:

The Lead Database Engineer is part of the Aurora PostgreSQL Database team and responsibilities include:

• As a member of the DBA team, should be able to develop standards and procedures for AWS Aurora PGS database in the Cloud
• Work on all aspects of database administration (DBA) including life cycle management (Upgrades, Patching etc) 
• Be available for production DBA on-call support on a rotation basis 
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize PGS database to ensure high availability, performance, and security
• Operate in an agile software delivery methodology environment that is highly passionate about developing, deployingimprovingancing AWS Aurora Postgres database implementation 
• Collaborate with support teams to fix and resolve AWS Aurora PGS database issues 
• Implement and test disaster recovery and business continuity architecture as it relates to the database implementation 
• Aligns risk and control processes into day-to-day responsibilities to supervise and mitigate risk; calls out appropriately 
• Contribute to Cloud strategy discussions and decisions on overall Cloud design and best approach for implementing Cloud Data solutions
• Know the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously improve the Database automation process (Jenkins/Gitlab, Python, Terraform etc)
• Enforce to standard processes on Incident, Problem and Change management
• Research, design, document and implement new solutions independently

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 6-8 years of related experience
• Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience

Talents Needed for Success:

• Must have hands on experience with the following:
  • AWS Aurora Postgres version 12 and above 
  • Solid understanding of Postgres DB architecture 
  • Provisioning of Aurora Postgres regional and Global clusters
  • Crafting additional reader instances
  • User administration including audit, performance tuning using QPM 
  • DB upgrades and Patching 
  • Experience implementing monitoring solution using AWS metrics and custom monitoring for Aurora Postgres
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment 
• Knowledge with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform  
• Good to have experience in developing scripts using Python 
• Proven experience with CICD Pipelines (Jenkins, Gitlab etc)
• Good knowledge of operating systems (Unix / Linux)
• Solid Understanding of AWS Cloud architecture
• Knowledge of Oracle Database is a plus
• Experience automating Database provisioning in AWS Cloud environment is nice to have
• Able to handle tasks and projects independently with minimum guidance and directions
• Demonstrated ability to work in a sophisticated environment to seek out business and customer needs and provide the best solution needed
