The Impact you will have in this role:
TradeSuite is an industry regulated application that provides a single electronic channel to coordinate all post-trade activity among trading parties. It Simplifies Communication between the parties, Reduces Settlement Risks as it facilitates early agreement on trade details, decreases the Potential for Errors, reduces costs for the client base and eliminates Settlement Complexities.
In the lifecycle of a trade, TradeSuite sits in the Post trade, Pre settlement space. Our external clients are Broker Dealers, Investment Managers and other parties that participate in settlement of Trades. The application processes our clients’ trades, determines the eligibility of these trades to settle at DTCC, either in Trade for Trade, or a Netting model. Reports are generated for Clients, and eligible US trades are passed to DTCC for Settlement. Additionally, the application satisfies mandated Industry rules for reporting and provides Trade analytics and client information feeds to a number of applications within the Enterprise. Additionally,
Clients can submit transactions starting from Sunday 10am EST to the following Saturday 4pm. At which time the application goes down for Maintenance.
A modernization effort has started for the application that will move the mainframe applications to a new modernized platform, mitigating the critical key person risk, associated with maintaining and upgrading the Cobol code base.
Your Primary Responsibilities:
- Provides day to day, support, ad-hoc requests and maintenance of designated software and systems.
- Handles complex application features and technical designs.
- Assists in accomplishing of technical departmental goals and objectives.
- Responsible for the analysis of project requirements, design and the development of technical specifications.
- Develops, tests, debugs and implements code for existing and/or proposed business applications.
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks of varying complexities and work independently in a dynamic (changing) environment.
- Able to lead a project and/or set of assignments, take ownership, and operate with minimum supervision and guidance.
- Responsible for all procedural and code documentation on assigned projects.
- May perform the role of Lead/Project Coordinator for projects with limited scope/duration.
- Excellent understanding of the entire project life cycle.
- Works with Business Users and other leads to transform business requirements into functional specifications / application implementation requirements.
- Actively participates in the development process, Quality Assurance cycle, and implementation to ensure that standards have been followed.
- Provides first time Implementation coverage & Support for applicable PSE & Production mainframe code changes.
- May participate in Production Incident Management calls for supported Application
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
Talents Needed for Success:
- Experience coding and debugging Mainframe Platforms. Experience on Distributed Platform is a plus.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of
- COBOL SQL coding, CICS, debugging and utilities.
- JCL/PROC, VSAM, SYNCSORT and file based interfaces.
- CICS coding, performance/tuning/design concepts, debugging and utilities
- ChangeMan
- Strong Relational Database skills: DB2/ SQL and file-based interfaces
- Proficient with Xpediter, Intertest and other mainframe tools
- Strong knowledge of CA-Scheduler, and IBM utilities
- Knowledge of MQSeries coding in both the batch and CICS environments, MQSeries Infrastructure components, MQSeries utilities such as Mainview, debugging and performance/design concepts.
- Knowledge of XML a plus.
- Proficient using Microsoft Word, EXCEL, PowerPoint, VISIO
Functional Skills/Knowledge
