EES Coke Operations is a facility at Zug Island in River Rouge, MI. The plant produces coke from various types of coal blends and uses it as fuel in the blast furnaces at the steel mill. This position is with EES Coke Battery, a subsidiary of DTE Energy.
This role includes health, dental, vision, and prescription insurance starting day one of employment. We are offering a $2,500 signing bonus and an additional $2,500 upon successful completion of the probationary period of 1,040 hours. Additionally, this position receives quarterly bonuses of up to $7,500 per year, based on EES Coke Battery's quality and production.
Job Summary:

Performs all maintenance functions necessary to maintain all operating and service equipment using standard and specialized tools and equipment including mobile equipment as required. Operates equipment in conjunction with repairs and aids in operating functions as necessary to maintain continuity of operations. May work alone, with minimal supervision or with other Maintenance Technicians and coordinates and works in conjunction with operating team members in the performance of maintenance tasks. This job has three levels (A, B, C) that an individual may progress through once the minimum experience requirement is met and individual shows a clear understanding of job functions. Each task is assigned points according to complexity. The Mechanical Maintenance Tech I may progress to the next level when 45 points of specified task proficiency is accumulated. Accumulating 45 points will earn the Mechanical Maintenance Tech the mid-range pay rate, and 85 points will progress the mechanic to the third and highest pay rate within that level.

- A high school diploma or GED.
- A valid driver's license.
- 3-5 years of heavy industrial experience to provide the following:
- Must be proficient in precision cutting with burning torch.
- Must be proficient arc welding (SMAW) in 2F &3F positions.
- Must have intermediate pipe threading and fitting skills.
- Must have intermediate rigging knowledge and experience.
- Must have advance print reading abilities.
- Must have basic hydraulic maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
- Must have basic air compressor and dryer maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
- Strong safety experience.
- Ability to work in a team orientated atmosphere.
- Demonstrated capability to achieve results through people, technology, and processing equipment.
- Good knowledge of the assigned area(s) of responsibility.
- Ability to function within a matrix organization where employees report to both a functional leader and a business leader.
- Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with both a functional and business leader.

- Sit, stand, or walk for a minimum of 8-hour shifts, including walking long distances, up and down stairs and on uneven ground.
- Frequently lift objects of up to 70 pounds in weight and carry objects of up to 50 pounds in weight. Occasionally the employee will have to push or pull objects of up to 100 pounds in weight.
- Frequently climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or occasionally, crawl.
- Enter and work in confined space areas.
- Talk & hear; use hands & fingers; handle & feel; and able to reach with hands and arms extensively.
- Frequent operations of controls with occasional driving and fine hand function manipulations of tools and equipment.
- Vision requirements for this position include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be clean shaven (except mustaches that are above the lower lip and do not affect the respirator seal) when reporting to work.
