Position Overview:
As a Payroll Specialist at DTG Recycle, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our employees. You will be responsible for maintaining payroll systems, handling payroll data entry, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. As a key member of the HR team, you’ll collaborate with your colleagues to provide excellent service and contribute to our mission of making a positive impact on the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately process timecards, bonuses, commissions, vacation requests, and adjustments to ensure timely payroll disbursement.
- Audit and reconcile payroll data for accuracy, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Input payroll changes, including manual checks, timecard edits, time off requests, and PTO adjustments.
- Manage and maintain records for prevailing wage and certified payroll jobs, including file management, certified payroll reporting, and communication with customers and governmental agencies.
- Prepare and submit certified payroll reports in accordance with federal and state regulations for projects requiring prevailing wage.
- Submit garnishments to ADP for processing and follow up on status.
- Collaborate with accounting staff to reconcile payroll and general ledger accounts.
- Produce and distribute scheduled payroll reports to key stakeholders.
- Conduct research and respond to inquiries from management, the accounting department, and employees regarding payroll-related matters.
- Assist with year-end payroll tasks.
- Stay up-to-date on federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with all applicable rules.
- Continuously monitor industry best practices and trends related to payroll processing to maintain efficiency and compliance.
- Assist with other payroll-related tasks as needed, ensuring the smooth operation of payroll processing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree or 2 or more years of payroll experience with a proven track record in payroll processing.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Familiarity with relevant payroll systems (experience with ADP is a plus).
- Familiarity with certified payroll requirements and the ability to prepare and submit certified payroll reports.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws related to payroll processing, including prevailing wage and certified payroll regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot payroll issues effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office software.
