Job Summary
The Weighmaster is responsible for accurately recording and managing the weight of materials and vehicles entering and leaving our facilities. This role ensures all weighbridge operations comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. The Weighmaster collaborates with drivers, operations staff, and administrative teams to maintain accurate documentation and an efficient workflow.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Weighing Operations: Operate and maintain weighbridge systems to accurately weigh vehicles, goods, or materials.
- Documentation: Record weight data manually or through digital systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Compliance: Verify that weights meet legal and company standards, flagging any discrepancies.
- Customer Interaction: Communicate with drivers and clients to ensure a smooth and professional weighing process.
- Inspection: Conduct visual inspections to ensure materials match the accompanying paperwork.
- Data Management: Enter and manage weight data in the company’s database or ERP system, ensuring up-to-date records.
- Reporting: Generate daily, weekly, or monthly reports for management review.
- Maintenance: Monitor and report maintenance needs for weighbridge equipment to ensure continuous operation.
- Safety: Follow and enforce safety protocols related to weighing operations.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Experience with weighbridge systems or similar equipment preferred.
- Attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer proficiency, including data entry and software such as Excel or ERP systems (Encore experience is a plus).
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards related to weighing operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics, supply chain management, or accounting is a plus.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Outdoor or semi-enclosed environment near operational vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Shift work, including evenings or weekends, may be required depending on facility hours.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
- Occasional light lifting or physical activity during inspections.
- Exposure to physical risks (cuts, burns, chemicals, etc.) and environmental elements (dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes).

Level 1: Entry-Level
- Experience: Brand new to the role, learning the basic operations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with weighbridge operations and basic data entry.
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance with safety protocols.
- Communicate with drivers and staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Learn equipment and software with guidance from more experienced staff.
Level 2: Intermediate (Approx. 6 months )
- Experience: Comfortable with Encore, able to work independently with some guidance.

- Operate weighbridge systems independently and complete daily/weekly tasks with minimal supervision.
- Maintain accuracy in weight documentation and perform basic troubleshooting.
- Support and communicate effectively with scale attendants and other team members.
- Contribute to maintaining safety protocols and equipment monitoring.
Level 3: Advanced
- Experience: Proficient with Encore and capable of handling complex situations independently.

- Resolve customer service issues and make independent decisions, without escalation.
- Perform ticket and work order research, ensuring accuracy.
- Review daily/weekly tasks, ensuring they are completed on schedule.
- Cross-train across multiple locations to provide scale coverage.
- Provide assistance in troubleshooting and resolving equipment or operational issues.
Level 4: Expert
- Experience: Highly skilled with Encore and possesses advanced problem-solving capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Mentor and train new hires, ensuring they are competent in their roles.
- Lead the resolution of complex customer service, ticketing, and work order issues.
- Proactively place orders and communicate necessary repairs for weighbridge equipment.
- Ensure all tasks and operational needs are completed efficiently, overseeing other weighmasters when necessary.
- Serve as a resource for other teams, helping with their learning and improvement.
Additional Expectations for All Levels
- Greet and direct customers with a friendly, service-oriented approach.
- Ensure that incoming loads are safe and compliant with regulations.
- Ensure the proper use of PPE by staff and customers.
- Maintain upkeep of the Scale House, ensuring cleanliness and order.
- Complete necessary reports and administrative tasks.
- Attend company-sponsored training sessions and meetings as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
