Responsibilities:
- Systems Management:
- Administer and maintain Windows-based servers (with a basic understanding of Linux as well), ensuring their optimal performance, security, and reliability.
- Install, configure, and update operating systems and software applications on Windows servers.
- Backups and Data Retention:
- Implement and manage backup solutions to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures for critical systems and data.
- Monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot issues, and perform data restoration when necessary.
- Network and Server Setups:
- Design, configure, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN connections.
- Set up and manage virtual and physical servers, ensuring seamless operation and resource optimization.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and optimize network configurations for maximum efficiency.
- Understanding of Web/Server Technology:
- Possess a strong understanding of web/server technologies, including web servers (e.g., Apache, IIS), database servers (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server), and related protocols (HTTP/HTTPS, FTP).
- Collaborate with web developers and application teams to deploy and maintain web applications, ensuring high availability and security.
- Security and Compliance:
- Work closely with the Security Team to implement and enforce security best practices, including user authentication, access control, and encryption protocols.
- Stay up-to-date with industry security trends and vulnerabilities, proactively addressing potential security risks.
- Ensure systems and processes comply with relevant regulations and standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, or industry-specific requirements.
- Documentation and Training:
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Provide training and support to end-users and other team members as needed.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and optimize system performance.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders clearly and concisely.
