Job Overview

The Merchandise Planner plays a vital role in driving business success by developing, executing, and maintaining merchandise plans and forecasts for specific categories. This includes analyzing historical sales data, current inventory levels, and market trends to identify opportunities and risks. The ideal candidate will have strong merchandising, analytical, and leadership skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and drive business results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain merchandise plans by department and class to ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Analyze historical data and current trends to identify opportunities and risks, and develop action plans to mitigate inventory issues and maximize profitability.
  • Work closely with Senior Merchandise Planners, Directors, and Divisional Merchandise Managers to align plans and forecasts with business objectives.
  • Develop and present weekly and monthly reports to senior management on merchandise performance, including sales, margin, and inventory analysis.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; 4-year degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in related buying or planning roles, or 5-7 years with a mix of buying, planning, and placement responsibilities.
  • Strong merchandising, analytical, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing demands.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in desktop applications and Windows-based programs.
