Job Overview
The Merchandise Planner plays a vital role in driving business success by developing, executing, and maintaining merchandise plans and forecasts for specific categories. Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain merchandise plans by department and class to ensure alignment with business goals.
- Analyze historical data and current trends to identify opportunities and risks, and develop action plans to mitigate inventory issues and maximize profitability.
- Work closely with Senior Merchandise Planners, Directors, and Divisional Merchandise Managers to align plans and forecasts with business objectives.
- Develop and present weekly and monthly reports to senior management on merchandise performance, including sales, margin, and inventory analysis.
- Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required; 4-year degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in related buying or planning roles, or 5-7 years with a mix of buying, planning, and placement responsibilities.
- Strong merchandising, analytical, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing demands.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in desktop applications and Windows-based programs.
