What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing Specialist position at DTSV Inc?
The Billing Specialist reports directly to the Controller and is responsible for the tracking and completion of all Billing and invoicing done with DTSV. As a billing specialist, you will prepare monthly invoices and monitor, reconcile, and report on unbilled balances. You will support external and internal teams with gathering documents. NO COLLECTONS ARE REQUIRED for this position.
Essential duties and responsibilities for the position include the following:
- Prepare and submit monthly based client invoices for government clients, ensuring invoices are billed accurately and consistently within award requirements and on a timely basis.
- Prepare/Support Internal Program Review (IPR) presentations for management.
- Ensure contractual requirements are met and customer financial deliveries are accurate and on time.
- Monitors & reports unbilled issues to the Accounting Manager.
- Assist with the project closeout process.
- Research and responds in a professional and timely manner to inquiries from both internal and external clients.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records.
- Apply firm and client specific billing guidelines to ensure engagement letter compliance.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining electronic billing for the specific clients you will manage, including establishing and maintaining e-billing rates and assisting billing attorneys in submitting timekeeper rate tables for approval.
- Work closely with the Accounting Department billing team to ensure accurate and timely billing for both hard copy and electronic billing matters, which may include government systems such as IPP.
- U.S. citizenship
- Ability to obtain/maintain government background position/security clearance
- Proven at least one year of working experience as a Billing Specialist
- High school diploma: further education in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration is a plus.
- Proficiency with computers, including MS Office Suite skills.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining electronic billing for the specific clients you will manage, including establishing and maintaining e-billing rates and assisting billing attorneys in submitting timekeeper rate tables for approval.
- Ability to communicate and express/exchange ideas clearly in the English language, both written and verbal.
