Job Summary
The Custodial Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the cleanliness and maintenance of Great Lakes Water Authority facilities throughout SE Michigan, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all occupants. This role involves managing custodial staff, coordinating cleaning schedules, and performing various cleaning tasks to maintain high standards of hygiene and appearance in both commercial and residential settings.
Duties
- Supervise and train custodial staff in proper cleaning techniques and safety protocols.
- Perform commercial cleaning tasks including buffing floors, maintaining cleanliness in common areas, restrooms, and offices.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities to ensure cleanliness and address any maintenance issues promptly.
- Oversee industrial cleaning operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Manage floor care activities such as stripping, waxing, and polishing to maintain optimal appearance.
- Coordinate with facility management for any necessary repairs or maintenance tasks.
- Assist with residential painting projects as needed to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the facilities.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment; reorder as necessary to ensure adequate stock levels.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in custodial or facilities maintenance roles is REQUIRED.
- Strong knowledge of commercial cleaning techniques and equipment operation.
- Familiarity with buffing machines and floor care practices is a plus.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness standards.
- Strong communication skills to effectively lead a team and coordinate with other departments.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
