The Assistant Controller is responsible for the operational accounting functions of our U.S. and Canadian businesses, including : maintaining complete and accurate accounting transactions and execution of appropriate internal controls.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans, directs and coordinates daily operations of accounting teams across the US and Canada
- Primary leader of the financial closing process for US and Canadian units
- Maintains complete and accurate monthly financial statements for downstream decision making by management
- Meets defined standards for the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data resulting in timely consolidation of multi-national businesses
- Oversees execution of account reconciliations
- Adheres to detailed standard procedures and accounting policies
- Oversees primary Enterprise Resource Planning system (Microsoft Dynamics 365) and all financial subledger systems providing transactional data
- Performs oversight activities for all system changes impacting financial reporting or transaction processing in Microsoft D365
- Assists with preparation and coordination of external and tax audits
- Promotes an environment of cross functional inclusion and collaboration
- Enables continuous improvement and automation, allowing team to focus on value added activity
- Hires, trains, develops and retains energetic accounting and finance staff
