We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Reading Interventionist Teacher to support middle school students in developing strong reading and literacy skills. The ideal candidate will work with students who are struggling with reading comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary, providing targeted interventions to help them achieve academic success. This position requires a strong background in reading instruction, a commitment to student growth, and the ability to collaborate with educators, families, and other stakeholders to create a supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assess and identify students’ reading levels, strengths, and areas of need using formal and informal assessment tools.
• Design and implement individualized and small-group reading intervention programs that align with students’ needs and grade-level standards.
• Provide targeted instruction in areas such as phonics, fluency, vocabulary development, reading comprehension, and writing skills.
• Monitor students’ progress through regular formative assessments, adjusting instruction based on data. Maintain consistent progress monitoring and data tracking system.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure that interventions complement and reinforce classroom instruction.
• Maintain accurate records of students’ progress and provide regular feedback to students, parents, and school leadership.
• Work with parents and guardians to create strategies for supporting students’ reading growth at home.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in reading instruction and intervention strategies.
• Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
• Actively contribute to the development and implementation of the school’s literacy initiatives and programs.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Reading, Special Education, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Valid state teaching certification in reading or literacy (preferred).
• Proven experience (minimum of 2 years) in teaching or providing reading interventions, particularly with middle school students.
• Knowledge of research-based reading intervention strategies and programs (e.g., Orton-Gilling ham, Leveled Literacy Intervention, etc.).
• Strong understanding of the developmental needs of middle school students.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and parents.
• Ability to differentiate instruction and provide support for students with diverse learning needs.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical Demands:
• Ability to stand, sit, and move around the classroom as needed.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
