ReStore Associate (Dubuque Store)
The ReStore is a retail store that sells donated building materials, furniture and appliances, as an ongoing fundraising leg of Dubuque and Jackson Habitat for Humanity. We are seeking a Floor associate / Stocker for our Dubuque, IA ReStore location. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities…
He or she must:
- Handle donated materials that arrive at the ReStore
- Sort and stock materials by department
- Ensure the store is safe and clean
- Interact with donors and customers in a professional manner
- Lift objects weighing up to 70 lbs
Job Conditions…
Position is full-time (40 hours a week). Evening and weekend work is required. It is a non-exempt position. Conditions and benefits are contained in the board approved Employee Handbook.

General Responsibilities…1. Facilitate and support primary agency programs.2. Provide calm, confident, and positive leadership to the entire organization.3. Disseminate information readily to stake holders as appropriate.4. Submit accurate reports according to deadlines.5. When confronted with things with which you question, disagree, or have a concern, speak directly with those involved.6. Ensure that your area, office, and/or building is clean, organized, safe, and in compliance with all codes.7. Comply with grant requirements accordingly.8. Cross train with fellow staff to ensure a steady flow of business despite absences.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Provide outstanding customer service to customers and donors.
2. Assist donors with unloading donations and assist customers with loading their purchases as necessary.
3. Operates equipment necessary to load or unload trucks, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies, and hand trucks.
4. Maintains the safety and neat appearance of the warehouse/sales floor including but not limited to sweeping, picking up and taking out trash.
5. Maintains an awareness of current advertisements and promotions to effectively serve customers.
6. Price incoming donations and stock to the sales floor in their appropriate location with proper signage.
7. Utilize available volunteers to assist with proper stocking.
8. Adheres to ReStore protocol for handling sold items that are not taken at the time of purchase by completing in full the “Sold” forms explaining the ReStore holding and pickup guidelines.
9. Occasionally answer phone and direct incoming calls as needed.
10. And other duties as assigned by the ReStore Managers and/or ReStore Assistant Managers
