Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center that sells new and gently used furniture, home improvement materials, hardware, appliances, and building supplies to the public at a fraction of retail prices. Proceeds support Habitat for Humanity’s mission to build and renovate homes for families in need.
Position: Sales Associate
Hours: Up to 35 hours per week (no benefits)
Location: 4949 Chavenelle Rd, Dubuque, IA
Schedule: Flexible, including weekends
Job Overview:
We’re looking for a motivated, customer-focused Sales Associate with experience in home improvement, hardware, lumber, or furniture sales. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced retail environment, has a passion for DIY and home renovation, and wants to make a real impact in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service, assisting shoppers with product selection and purchases.
- Maintain knowledge of home improvement materials, hardware, lumber, and furniture to educate customers and donors.
- Process sales transactions efficiently and accurately.
- Assist with stocking, pricing, and organizing inventory on the sales floor.
- Accept and process donated materials, ensuring quality and safety standards.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming shopping environment.
- Work collaboratively with the team to achieve sales and donation goals.
Qualifications:
- Retail or sales experience in home improvement, hardware, lumber, or furniture required.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks, including standing, bending, and moving materials.
- Comfortable working in a warehouse/retail setting.
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with a commitment to Habitat for Humanity’s mission.
