Performs professional legal work in the area of Misdemeanor and Felony prosecutions and related work as required or assigned.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Assists law enforcement in investigating criminal activity in role as prosecutor;Prosecutes criminal offenses including felonies and misdemeanors;May advise and present evidence before the Grand Jury;Conducts legal research, prepares legal opinions and writes legal briefs as required or assigned;Prepares reports and correspondence on assigned legal matters;Responds to citizen complaints; Serves rotation with other staff attorneys to cover evening and weekend court schedule and to counsel law enforcement;Performs related tasks as required or assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Thorough knowledge of the modern principles, theory and practices in selected fields of law; thorough knowledge of legal research and the investigation, preparation and presentation of cases for trial; general knowledge of legal office procedures, practices and methods; ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with court officials, state and local officials, members of the bar, fellow employees and the general public; ability to prepare and render legal opinions; ability to handle trial, post-trial and appellate litigation.
