Summary:
· The Middle School Humanities teacher is a committed Sacred Heart educator who will relate well with 5th-8th graders and is passionate about teaching Middle School students. The ideal candidate will embrace both the school’s mission and the myriad of responsibilities involved with being an educator at an independent school.
· The teacher will develop engaging, hands-on, rigorous lesson plans and curricula.
· The teacher will be committed to fostering a sense of curiosity within the students and a passion for discovering new things. Outstanding candidates will have a deep understanding of pedagogical best practices, social studies and English language arts content, and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
· Be an active member of the Social Studies and English Language Arts Departments by attending meetings, developing, and updating course curricula to find alignment and connection between content areas.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Plan, organize, and lead activities designed to promote academic, social, and emotional development in a supportive and engaging learning environment.
· Create an emotionally responsive, caring, positive, and accepting environment supportive of the individual development of each child and family.
· Supervise young children and ensure a safe and loving environment including the ability to monitor and respond to events in the classroom, outdoor play areas, campus areas, and school trips.
· Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs and interests.
· Attend staff meetings, serve on committees as required, seek, and attend professional development opportunities.
· Evaluate each student's growth and performance.
· Provide constructive feedback to parents.
· Prepare and distribute report cards online.
· Plan, teach, facilitate, and oversee middle school advisory group.
· Engage and participate in ongoing professional development.
· Attend all department, division, and schoolwide meetings.
· Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Requirements
Minimum Education/Prior Experience/Qualifications Required:
· Bachelor’s Degree.
· Teaching Certificate.
· High level of competence using technology.
· Experience in a PreK – 12 environments, preferably in independent schools is a plus.
· Strong references to convey teaching abilities.
· Possess experience in and demonstrate a strong understanding and depth of knowledge in related content.

Upon Hiring
· Successful completion of criminal offender record information and sexual offender registry information checks.
· Successful completion of CMG Safe Environment Training.
· Current CPR certification.
