The Director, Procurement and Packaging Development is responsible for leading the strategic procurement and packaging development function for the organization. This role ensures cost-effective sourcing of packaging materials, supplier management, innovation in packaging design, and sustainability initiatives. The director will collaborate cross-functionally to align procurement and packaging strategies with business objectives and operational requirements.
What we will ask you to do:
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for all wine packaging categories including contract negotiations, supplier selection, and risk management aligned with company goals.
- Find opportunities to reduce costs, improve quality and efficiency across the portfolio.
- Collaborate with Accounts Payable and Cost Accounting teams on continuous improvements of automation, timely payments, discounts, obsolete materials and best inventory practices.
- Provide mentorship to the procurement team and provide opportunities for development. Establish performance metrics and clear goals.
- Develop and lead process for packaging changes and execution of NPDs in collaboration with Brand Managers. Provide packaging solutions that are aligned with brand identity, sustainability goals, and bottling capabilities.
- Create and maintain systems for tracking timelines and due dates for packaging artwork, label approvals and packaging orders that are aligned with bottling schedules. Collaborate with brand and marketing teams on deadlines and ensure materials are on track for required delivery dates.
- Collaborate with Quality team to qualify all new packaging and set expectations with marketing and brand teams on specifications and tolerance.
- Initiate trials with Quality team based on new market trends, innovation, and in collaboration with Brand & Marketing team.
What you will need:
- Bachelor's degree or an accredited degree in related field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 5 years of experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV or other ERP system.
- At least 5 years of experience in procurement and/or packaging preferred.
- Must have Project Management experience and be highly skilled with cross functional collaboration.
- Highly Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and project management software with the ability to create complex reporting using data from multiple sources.
- Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
- Proven experience in packaging development or procurement leadership role.
- Technical knowledge of wine packaging components and bottling line capabilities

- The salary range for this position is $129,000 - $155,000.
