What are the responsibilities and job description for the Viticulture Technician position at Duckhorn Wine Company?
The Duckhorn Portfolio is North America’s premier luxury wine company. We were established in 1976 by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn. Today, our portfolio features some of North America’s most revered wineries, including Decoy, Paraduxx, Goldeneye, Migration, Canvasback, Calera, Kosta Browne, Sonoma Cutrer Vineyards, Greenwing and Postmark.
Our viticulture team at Sonoma Cutrer Vineyards is looking for a dynamic Viticulture Technician to join their growing team. The goal of this position is to provide general viticulture support, focusing in the areas of scouting, data collection and special assignment viticulture projects for The Duckhorn Portfolio North Coast Estate Vineyard in Russian River Valley and Sonoma County.
What we will ask you to do:
- Conduct weekly field scouting in all vineyard blocks for vineyards pests and diseases.
- Enter scouting data into AgCode.
- Assist Viticulture team with data collection for Master Vineyard Legend.
- Assist with crop estimation process.
- Conduct seasonal vineyard trials.
- Provide grower support as needed.
- Help with implementing the company’s restoration, enhancement and conservation project.
- Assist and support in vineyard certification programs, i.e. Fish Friendly Farming and California Sustainable Winegrowing.
What you will need:
- Degree in Viticulture or related field.
- Prior vineyard experience related to Viticulture.
- Know how to identify and quantify common vineyards pests and diseases.
- Ability to create reports from various software programs.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to safely complete tasks and follow company’s safety rules and procedures.
- Must be a self-starter with strong work ethic and good communication skills.
- Prior use of AgCode preferred.
