Job Summary: The Industrial Maintenance Parts Clerk is responsible for managing and maintaining an inventory of parts and supplies required for the daily operations of the industrial maintenance department. The position ensures that maintenance staff have the necessary tools, equipment, and parts to perform repairs and preventive maintenance tasks efficiently and on time.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
Track and maintain inventory of maintenance parts, tools, and supplies.
Monitor stock levels and reorder parts as needed, ensuring no interruptions to maintenance operations.
Perform regular inventory audits and update records as required.
Parts Procurement:
Order parts and supplies from vendors based on the maintenance department's needs and budget.
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of required materials.
Manage returns, exchanges, and warranty claims for defective or incorrect items.
Record Keeping and Documentation:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all inventory transactions, including parts used and stock received.
Document the movement of parts from the inventory to maintenance technicians.
Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company guidelines related to parts management.
Organization and Maintenance of Parts Storage:
Organize parts and supplies in an orderly and efficient manner, ensuring easy access for maintenance personnel.
Keep the parts storage area clean and free of hazards.
Support Maintenance Technicians:
Assist maintenance technicians by locating and delivering parts and tools as requested.
Ensure technicians are aware of the availability and location of necessary parts for specific jobs.
Provide technical support by identifying parts and equipment based on descriptions and drawings.
Collaborate with Other Departments:
Work closely with the maintenance and purchasing teams to align part availability with operational needs.
Communicate with management regarding inventory levels, parts shortages, or delays in deliveries.
Experience and Skills:
Prior experience in parts management, inventory control, or maintenance support in an industrial setting is preferred.
Must be or willing to become proficient with EAM (Enterprise Asset Management) software.
Must have basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft programs, (Outlook, Excel and Word).
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of industrial maintenance parts and equipment is a plus.
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to lift and move heavy items as necessary (depending on parts handled).
Work Environment:
The Industrial Maintenance Parts Clerk will primarily work in a warehouse or parts room setting. Some lifting and physical activity may be required. Protective equipment (PPE) should be worn as per safety guidelines.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
