Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for assembling, installing and repairing sheet metal products and equipment, such as ducts, control boxes, and furnace casings.
Job Responsibilities
- Setting up and operating fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal.
- Operating soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts;
- Inspecting, assembling, and smoothing seams and joints of burred surfaces.
- Installing prefabricated sheet metal ducts used for heating, air conditioning, or other purposes.
- Reading blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the layout of duct systems.
- Install and repair sheet metal products, including ductwork, gutters, and flashing.
- Measure and cut sheet metal to specific dimensions using hand tools.
- Inspect finished products for quality and ensure they meet industry standards.
- Follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) while working.
- Collaborate with other tradespeople, such as carpenters and electricians, to complete projects.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 months as a sheet metal helper with experience in commercial service; or equivalent combination of education (Technical School) and experience.
- Must be willing to buy Sheet Metal hand tools
- Must be able and willing to follow job-site instructions.
- Comfortable with heights.
- Lift heavy materials at heights.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- This position requires working in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, extreme weather conditions, precarious places, and risk of electrical shock (high voltage).
- This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling and standing for long periods of time. It requires employees to regularly lift and or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and or move more than 50 pounds.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
