Ducworks is a custom fabrication company located in Logan with ISO, AS9100 and AISC certifications. We are a fast paced and highly skilled weld & machining fabrication shop involved in some of our nation’s most important and sensitive programs. The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for ensuring that systems and procedures are in-place and functioning so that customer specifications, standards and expectations are met.
Essential Job Functions:
- Develop, implement, and track goals related to the quality program and be a leader in our quest for continual improvement
- Oversee:
- Incoming inspection
- In-process inspection
- Sampling procedures
- Final inspection
- Calibration program
- Maintain quality records including the quality manual and other documents and revisions
- Manage internal audits of the Ducworks quality system and report results to Ducworks’ management
- Identify quality related training needs and implement such training
- Prepare for and participate in external quality audits
- Partner with Department Managers and Project Managers to ensure commitments are met for product delivery
- Track quality performance at a corporate, department, and individual level
- Manage a team of inspection technicians and weld inspectors including oversight of their:
- Day-to-day activities
- Performance reviews
- Attendance
- Time-keeping and job costing
- Safety
- Report to project managers on any issues or concerns that may occur during the inspection process
- Attend the bi-weekly production meeting to coordinate inspection and production efforts among various departments
- Submit inspection records and documentation to customers
- Use measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, tape measures, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), weld gauges, profile gauges, and other specialized tools and gauges to inspect products
- Assist in obtaining new quality certifications as directed by executive management
- Create Non-Conformance and Corrective Action Reports
Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (i.e. Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Management, or Business Management), or Trade School Certification, or equivalent on-the-job experience
- Experience working either in a machining, welding, paint or complex assembly environment
- Must be able to read and understand drawings and specifications
- Preference given to candidates who are proficient with American Welding Society codes or who are licensed CWI’s
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to resolve conflicts that arise from balancing multiple priorities and proven ability to work well under pressure while meeting deadlines in a dynamic fabrication environment
- Proven ability to express points to management team and lead group meetings with confidence
- Must have strong organizational skills
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work collaboratively or independently
- Energetic and goal oriented
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to build effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organizations
- Proven problem-solving skills with the ability and drive to proactively seek alternative solutions
- Successful candidate will possess strong detail orientation, eye for accuracy, and prompt follow-through on tasks and assignments
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel are required
- A solid working knowledge of Global Shop Solutions or other ERP software is preferred
