Dock Hand

Job Summary:

Dock Hands are responsible for the safe docking of boats and general operations of the docks by facilitating and assisting in coordinating the arrival and departure of boats, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and acting as the initial liaison between customers and the marina management team.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Will ensure proper operation, rotation, storage and maintenance of boats and proper customer service techniques.

· Follow all safety rules as trained by the management team. Can deploy proper safety guidelines and rescue procedures as necessary.

· Maintain proper appearance and adhere to the dress code as stated in the company Employee Handbook.

· Responsible for documenting and reporting rental boat damage claims and necessary service needs to Service Manager and Rental Manager.

· Ensure all customers are comfortable with map, operation, rules, and emergency procedures before leaving the dock.

· Maintain appearance and cleanliness of grounds and restrooms.

· Ensure all efforts are being made to maintain the safety of patrons on docks.

· Ensure boats are being secured properly and are charging when necessary.

· Follow proper closing procedures and ensure completion before departing including closing boats, securing boats, cleaning boats, plugging in all boats, locking office and restrooms, emptying all trash and recycling bins and any other closing duties as needed.

· Stay in communication with Rental Manager regarding any materials that need to be replenished and ordered for the dock and restrooms.

· Dock hands are required to work weekends and holidays.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· Knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.

· Knowledge of dock maintenance.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Excellent knowledge of customer service skills.

· Ability to operate small power tools.

Education and Experience:

· At least 1-3 years of dockhand experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

· Heavy lifting up to 30 pounds at a time.

· Ability to be balanced to walk back and forth on docks to boats and slippery/wet surfaces.

· Hand dexterity to use small power tools

· Ability to walk and stand for long extended periods of time.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
