- Greet and interact Customers in an empathetic, courteous, and helpful manner; listening and responding promptly to Customer needs.
- Determine if furniture requires parts replacement and whether it is repairable to good stock.
- Repair damaged furniture to new condition in a specified timeframe, including but not limited to case goods (wood or manufactured material furniture), fabric and leather upholstery.
- Clean stained or soiled furniture and mattresses.
- Safe operation of hand and power hand tools, especially drills, impact drivers, and multi-tools.
- Complete bench testing evaluations for regular validation of skills.
- Support development and growth of other technicians.
- Follow instructions in documentation and reporting, including standard operating procedures and activity recording.
- Follow the planned route to ensure on-time arrival for Customer repairs.
- Report any incomplete or problem service calls to the Customer Response Team.
- Complete weekly vehicle maintenance and log updates as required.
- Maintain a clean and organized service vehicle, including maintaining required repair materials and supplies.
- Adhere to driving policy for company vehicles, including meeting annual MVR review requirements.
- Assists shop technicians with repairs as needed when required and available.
- High School Diploma.
- 1-year practical work experience in furniture repair including upholstery, leather repairs and wood refinishing OR similar experience working with other materials and completing color matching.
- Read, understand, and write in the English language; additional languages beneficial.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Ability to learn in-house computer programs.
- Valid Driver’s License and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record per company guidelines.
- Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus to read reports, view computer screen, etc.
- Must be able to hear and understand speech to interact with others.
- Must be able to speak so that others will be able to understand.
- Will remain in a seated position for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to perform repetitive tasks with both hands to include keyboarding, handwriting, office/POS equipment and handheld equipment operation.
- Will remain on one’s feet in an upright position and move about on foot.
- Will bend, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach at or above shoulder level.
- Will lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds and more with assistance.
- Will work predominately in a private home or retail establishment; occasional work at warehouse locations.
- Potential exposure to oil, latex, and spray paint, household chemicals, biological odors and household dusts; moderate office noise.
