Duininck Companies is looking for a motivated, self-starter to join our team as a full-time Claims and Risk Manager!
Duininck Companies, a family-owned portfolio of businesses with a legacy of almost 100 years in construction and materials, water management and real estate, is seeking a dedicated Claims and Risk Manager to join our Central Team in Minnesota. This role is pivotal in managing claims and supporting portfolio risk management to foster our mission of leveraging enterprise resources and our values to achieve success, delivering quality projects/products while fostering strong relationships and sustainable growth. This is a hybrid position with an office location in Willmar, Minnesota. The Claims and Risk Manager role requires periodic travel to entity locations throughout the United States.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the claims process, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely resolution.
- Analyze risk exposures and loss trends, providing actionable insights to mitigate potential liabilities.
- Collaborate with entity teams, subcontractors and external parties to resolve claims efficiently.
- Develop and implement claims management Best Practices portfolio wide in alignment with company values and regulatory requirements.
- Be the Risk subject matter expert on RMIS, determine ways to optimize efficient use and actionable data.
- Prepare reports and dashboards for leadership highlighting claims trends and risk analysis.
- Support certificate of insurance (COI) process at portfolio businesses.
- Assist with insurance renewal process data compilation and development, management of bound policies.
- Stay informed on industry best practices and specific regulations to ensure compliance and innovation in claims handling.
- Assist with other projects/responsibilities as assigned.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelors degree in risk management, insurance, business administration or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in claims management, specifically in workers' compensation or general/auto liability insurance, or related field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish rapport and effectively advise all levels within organization.
- Ability to professionally raise concerns and effectively deal with conflict.
- Positive attitude, flexible and continuous learner.
- Strong analytic skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel or similar), RMIS tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Maintain a valid drivers license and vehicle with the ability to travel to entity locations.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time, look at computer screens for extended periods of time, and lift up to 20 pounds, as needed. Position requires dexterity to write and manipulate keyboard and mouse, and ability to hear and speak clearly.
This full-time position comes with a strong benefits package including:
