Quality Control Manager

Duininck Concrete is a family-owned business headquartered in Willmar, MN. We perform commercial, residential, agricultural, and public projects. Offering a one stop shop to customers for quality aggregates, ready mix, and construction supply products through our plants across central and southwest MN. Part of the Duininck Family of Companies with an over 90-year reputation in several industries.

We are seeking a Quality Control Manager to oversee all aspects of the quality department. This person would ensure all concrete products meet industry standards, project specifications, and customer expectations. This role also oversees mix design creation, the submittal process, and compliance with ACI, ASTM, state, and federal regulations. As a people manager, we are also looking for a servant leadership mindset to foster teamwork and continuous improvement.

Responsible for:

• Develop and optimize concrete mix designs.

• Manage the submittal process and ensuring regulatory compliance.

• Oversee concrete sampling and testing per ACI, ASTM, and DOT standards.

• Train and mentor field and lab technicians.

• Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot mix issues.

• Maintain lab equipment and ensure accurate test results.

• Analyze data and provide recommendations for quality improvement.

• Oversee quality control processes to ensure compliance with sustainability standards, including Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and the use of low-carbon concrete, while maintaining product performance and regulatory requirements.

• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and owners to ensure project specifications align with quality control standards, sustainability goals, and regulatory requirements.

Skills we look for:

• Ability to apply critical thinking to analyze and identify problems by finding the root cause and creating solutions that align with business objectives.

• Understand management principles, including finance, health and safety, quality, and human resources. Capacity to manage change.

• Customer-focused approach across internal and externals stakeholders 3 years of QC experience in ready-mix concrete.

• Servant leadership skills with a team-focused mindset.

• Strong reasoning and math abilities.

• Familiarity with all commonly used computer software (MS Office Suite, etc.).

Requirements we look for:

• Strong knowledge of mix designs and performance optimization.

• Certifications to sample and test concrete per state/federal regulations.

• ACI, ASTM, and DOT standards expertise.

• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade 2

• Experience managing a QC team

• MnDOT Plant/Agg/Field/Strength certified

• NRMCA Certified Concrete Technologist, Level 3

• NRMCA Certified Concrete Technologist, Level 4

Physical requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds regularly.

• Ability to handle loading and unloading of cylinders and other physical activities as required.

• Available to work on a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends)
