What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant/Technician position at Duke Animal Clinic?
Veterinary Assistant/ Veterinary Technician needed for busy mixed (predominently small) animal practice in west Mobile Alabama. Applicant needs to love animals and be able to pay attention to details. The successful candidate must also be able to multi-task, take initiative, and provide excellent patient care. Greeting and interacting with clients with a positive and caring attitude while maintaining excellent communications skills (written and oral) is required. The candidate must be punctual and dependable. We are seeking a person who can work well with other members of the team. We are a true general practice and you will see many interesting cases. If you are a LVT, CVT, or RVT you will be able to put your skills to use. Candidate must be able to work the hours assigned within the work week and be willing to work occasional overtime if needed. Education requirement is either a high school diploma/equivalent or graduation from a Accredited Veterinary Technology program.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians in examining and treating animals, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Handle and restrain animals during procedures, utilizing proper techniques.
- Administer medications and vaccinations as directed.
- Maintain accurate medical records and assist with laboratory tests.
- Provide care for animals in the kennel, including feeding and grooming.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and health practices.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
