This position is for a Transmission SCADA Engineer to support the field with RTU/SCADA configurations across the Midwest.
Additional Areas Of Focus For This Role Will Be
- Remote Engineering Access Modeling and Support
- RTU-specific compliance activities (Baseline Updates, Tripwire Testing, etc.)
- Communication and data-sharing standards and support with Interties
- Support non-protection based devices such as Electronic Temperature Monitors (ETMs), LTC/VR Controllers, DGAs, and Carrier.
- Maintain Crossbow/SADM for Midwest Relay and RTU assets,
- Support non-protection based devices such as ETMs, Carrier, and LTC/Regulator controllers,
- Interface with Telecomm is needed to adapt to changing communication architecture,
- Conducts engineering and related studies; expected to engage in frequent working group phone calls and face-to-face meetings to coordinate and implement changes as a result of fleet and recognize industry best practices,
- Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance,
- Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities,
- Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills,
- Maintains accurate records and files,
- Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
- Must have obtained Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program by June 2025.
- A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree. (Spring 2025 graduates will be considered for this position)
- Previous experience as a Duke Energy Intern or Co-Op.
- Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.
- Understanding of basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations.
- Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam.
- Understanding of basic principles of project management.
- Experience in the utility industry
- Travel may be needed for face-to-face interactions with engineering and relay/SCADA field personnel.
- Expectation to be hands on in lab environment with communication based devices for template development, testing, and debugging.
- Both full-time onsite and Hybrid mobility classifications are acceptable for this role.
- Hybrid – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to their designated Duke Energy facility
