This is a full-time, permanent leadership position. Our Renewable Control Center Dispatch Operator is a vital part of our organization, and we take pride in hiring and training the best in the industry.
The Renewable Control Center Dispatch Operator will work on-site at Nascar Plaza in Charlotte, NC to support the daily operations for Duke Energy’s Sustainable Solutions Control Center.
We are looking for an individual to maintain effective communication with wind and solar entities, RCC QSE, power off takers, (Black Hills Power, Evergy, Pacificorp, First Energy, Tri-State, Southern Cal Edison) and wind turbine OEM O&M providers (Vestas, Siemens, Gamesa, etc).

Responsibilities:
Maintaining daily logs of system events, providing immediate verbal notifications of unusual activities to the appropriate personnel, preparing daily power nominations and reports.
Overseeing the safe and reliable operations of Duke Energy Sustainable Solutions wind, solar farm and battery assets.
Monitoring real-time power output, performance, and energy yield of each generating facility.
Meter data comparison to the Day-Ahead (DA) schedule and the Real-Time (RT) award is determined
Maintaining availability levels at each renewable energy site as well as following curtailment directives from entities (e.g. Reliability Coordinator, Transmission Operator, Power Marketer etc.).
Tracking and providing immediate notifications of unusual activities (e.g., ongoing generation outage, loss of communication events including but not limited to ancillary services) to appropriate personnel
Assist as training coordinator/liaison for market participants (PJM, ERCOT, SPP, CAISO, etc.)
Administer interchange contractual obligations, evaluate the pricing of off-system sales and purchases
Requesting major circuit and generation capacity outages
Perform a variety of administrative duties (e.g., conducting training requirements and records for Market participation)
Responsible for EH&S and other relevant requirements
Training in the ERCOT, PJM, SPP Market via Learning Management System (LMS) as well as instructor led training
Required Qualifications:
High School/GED
Associates degree
In lieu of Associates degree, High School/GED and two (2) years minimum of related work experience
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety, Science, Engineering or other related discipline
PJM Generator Operator Certification
Advanced knowledge of Duke Energy’s (Areva) Energy Management System
Detailed knowledge of Power Systems, including Transmission, Load control, Voltage control, Frequency Control, Automatic Generation Control, and NERC Performance Standards
Knowledge of generating unit operation, engineering, or maintenance practices
Additional years of renewables generation dispatching experience are strongly preferred and will be given preference over other power industry experience
Experience with multiple wind turbine suppliers and solar PV technologies
Knowledge of telemetry data communications, remote database applications, application programming techniques, and control systems
Experience with Power Marketing tools such as market and/or Transmission Operator scheduling software (Market Portals, nMarket, ADAPT2, Genscape)
Advanced computer skills – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PI Application Suite
Working Conditions:
Valid Driver’s License required
Onsite Mobility Classification – Work will be performed in an office environment at a company facility.
