The Role:
As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), you will function as an integral member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team. You will provide direct patient care, perform routine administrative tasks, and assist medical and nursing staff during examinations and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Take medical histories and record vital signs
- Explain treatment procedures to patients
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
- Assist medical and nursing staff during examinations and procedures
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
- Perform basic laboratory tests
- Take electrocardiograms, remove sutures/staples, change sterile and non-sterile dressings
- Promote patient/family understanding of educational content and involvement in plan of care
- Document patient records
- Dispose of contaminated supplies, process instruments, disinfect and sterilize medical instruments
- Telephonc prescriptions to pharmacies, prepare and administer medications, authorize drug refills
