Job Summary
The Principal Hardware Engineer has a global responsibility for managing Duke's hardware portfolio for food service equipment including Hot Holding, Food Prep, Serving, and Cooking.
Our need for connectivity, cost, and commonality across equipment; drives us away from off-the-shelf hardware in most instances, we've got to make it ourselves. You will be a member of a team with a System Architect, Principle Embedded Engineer, and Lead Cloud and Mobile Software Engineers to lead the Hardware design and roadmap. You will be responsible for working with this team to ensure the hardware roadmap aligns with the needs of the cloud and mobile app integration, meets the connectivity standards, aligns with technology that has an acceptable end-of-life and sustainable support in key industries we can align with (e.g. automotive). You will partner with Product Ownership to ensure we stay in front of the customer needs. You will work with Supply Chain to ensure we have the right partnership with board design contractors and/or contract manufacturers (we do not manufacture our own boards). You will also be the lead peer review on electrical component selection and electrical system designs ensuring compatibility between electrical components and controls.
As a technical lead in hardware, you will work with engineers on New Product Development projects. You will work with production and service to ensure that we manage hardware changes through production and the service network.
Job Requirements

Job qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience working on and leading hardware design, verification or testing initiatives.
- 3 years of experience in managing technical teams.
- Experience in establishing project goals, coordinating resources, and providing technical leadership.
