Duke University’s Pratt School of Engineering is seeking a talented, driven, and innovative, Executive in Residence to teach classes in blockchain, decentralized finance asset pricing and risk management in our Master of Engineering in Financial Technology. The demand for the FinTech degree program continues to expand, with a record class expected in Fall of 2024.  The skills and applied knowledge that the FinTech program provides students is directly related to the strong industry ties that the program maintains with major financial services firms.

The Master of Engineering in Financial Technology is housed within the Institute for Enterprise Engineering, which supports the development of engineering professionals throughout their careers as a part of Duke’s Pratt School of Engineering (Durham, NC). 

The major responsibilities of this new Executive in Residence position will be (1) teach two sections of our Advanced Blockchain class, and 2) teach two sections of our Asset Pricing and Risk Management class, and 3) participate in service work, which may include but is not limited to; application review, Digital Assets@Duke conference, scholarly papers and/or articles in the Digital Assets and Research Engineering Collaborative lab.

  •  We know that the applied learnings related to the classes articulated are instrumental to many of the roles sought after by the FinTech graduates.
  • Since classes are offered in person and online, enhancing the FinTech Online offering related to the courses above is necessary, experience with developing and delivering online classes is highly desirable. 

Preferred candidates will have a demonstrated ability to teach FinTech related subjects, as well as financial and blockchain industry experience in a professional setting. An academic and industry understanding of these subjects, in particular in an applied environment is crucial to the success of the classes.  This is expected to be an on-site, full-time position.

Salary : $75,000 - $100,000
