CAPS provides excellent quality of care to undergraduate and graduate students. Under the direction of the Director of Clinical Services, the Counselor, Clinical Mental Health will provide assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention in an individual and / or group setting. This individual will participate in CAPS outreach and community engagement activities for Duke students. The individual must be a strong generalist who provides services through a social justice framework and can provide multimodal interventions and clinical services to emerging adults in the college setting. The clinician should be culturally competent and have demonstrated experience working with diverse student populations. The clinician may support training and education which may include providing culturally-responsive supervision and seminars to licensed professional counseling interns.
Key Position Duties
Clinical / student services - (60%)
Provides assessment / brief counseling / crisis intervention in individual and group settings to college students. Provide clinical services using appropriate theoretical approaches
Provides interpersonal process and skills-based, and other group services and workshops as needed within CAPS and across the campus community.
Assist students in developing coping skills and tools that will allow them to maintain emotional, physical, social, and environmental, relational wellness.
Provides crisis case management services to students and responds to clinical and campus crises as a support to the TRAC to as needed.
Has demonstrated knowledge about Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and ways to integrate this modality in a university counseling center. Also demonstrated knowledge and ability to integrate other theoretical approaches within the clinical counseling process.
- Administers and interprets limited assessment measures;
- Participate in community engagement services through liaison relationships with faculty, staff and students;
Delivers campus and community level interventions that address cultural climate issues for oppressed and marginalized groups.

Anticipated Pay Range :
Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $ 62,000.00 to USD $99,000.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education / training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Master's degree from an accredited school of social work required. Current licensure as a licensed clinical social worker by the NC Social Work and Certification and Licensure Board.
Experience
Two years of post masters experience in a clinical setting and five years of experience in a student mental health agency or relevant healthcare or social service setting.
