Occ Summary
Provide specialized patient care functions as aclinician, educatorand/or a consultant for a specified patient populat ion.
Work Performed
Coordinate with the nursing staf fto identify patient care problems,to implement approaches to these prob lems and to evaluate theeffectiveness of the approaches.Perform clinical evaluations andmake clinical judgments based on a synthesis of concepts, principles,models and theories to solve complex problems.Serve as aconsu ltant in a nursing specialty area for patients, nurses and otherhealthte am members throughout Duke University Medical Center andcommunity agenci es.Participate in departmental and hospitalcommittees and meetings tofac ilitate improvement of patient care anddevelopment of goals, philosophie s and objectives for a specializedpatient population.Maintain liaisonwit h faculty members ofschools of nursing to arrange and facilitate clinica l experience fornursing students; communicate with faculty members conce rning students'needs and progress.Coordinate the development and impleme ntationof an educational program designed to convey specialized knowledg e andskills to nursing personnel.Coordinate plans for the professionalde velopment of the nursing staff assigned to a specialty unit area andserv e as a practitioner of specialized patient care.Perform otherrelatedduti es incidental to the work described herein.
