PGA ASSISTANT PROFESSIONAL
I. General:
A. Hours to be worked:
- This is a full-time salaried position with staff benefits. This position calls for a minimum of 44 hours and a maximum of 60 hours per week.
B. Staff Meetings:
- Coordinate/attend all weekly golf shop meetings throughout the year.
- Attend other business meetings as requested by the General Manager.
II. Areas of Responsibility:
A. Golf Shop Duties:
- Each day, spread hospitality and goodwill among all members and guests. Be knowledgeable in all duties of golf operations personnel. Have a thorough understanding of the overall golf operation policies and procedures as well as Duke University policies and procedures.
- Assure that the golf shop is always neat, clean, and well-organized. Keep counter areas and displays attractive, neat, and clean.
- Take an active role in the merchandise operation, including ordering, receiving, pricing, and displaying merchandise within the Duke University Golf Club open-to-buy system. Keep all miscellaneous supplies current.
- Act as the Host Professional and supervisor of our daily events and tournament programs as assigned by the Head Professional.
- Supervise and direct the following departments: Bag Storage, Lockers, Club Rentals, Bag Rentals, and the Starter and Player Assistant operations.
- Help direct and occasionally supervise our various departments: golf cars, driving range, bag storage, starter, and player assistant operations. You may be assigned to manage these areas directly.
- Record daily sales in the merchandise and revenue book. Correctly close all cash/charge operations at night. Reconcile daily deposits and properly write up any and all daily reports.
- Be available for any and all work-related duties as assigned by our Head Golf Professionals or the General Manager.
B. Leadership and Planning Responsibilities:
- Provide respected leadership and inspiration in making our departments the best in the operation. Be responsible for the day-to-day operation of these areas.
- Project both short-term and long-term needs in these areas.
- Provide considerable input into planning for major and minor systems for the golf club: golf cars, driving range, bag storage, locker room facilities, starter and player assistants, tournaments, tee time administration, golf shop merchandise, display, and inventory, as well as all other major profit and cost centers.
- Suggest minor to major changes in work methods and procedures to the Head Professional and GM to meet goals and program deadlines.
- Gather and summarize data as requested by the GM or Head Golf Professionals for special projects such as annual reports, space, supply, or equipment inventory, and review of progress on initiated programs. Suggest, design, and help implement improvements within the operation.

Anticipated Pay Range:
Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $43,888.00 to USD $70,300.00.
