Occupational Summary
Design, plan, coordinate and administer fundraising and advancement activities for two International Development Directors traveling to Latin America, Europe and Asia and one International Development Officer (non-travel). Position requires a wide latitude for exercising discretion, judgment and independence to develop and implement projects and programs relating to the identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and recognition of major gifts.

Work Performed
Prospect Portfolio Management
- Spearhead strategic and complex follow-up to donors and prospects, ensuring that materials are gathered, distilled, reframed and delivered as part of a cohesive whole.
- Coordinate with colleagues in Duke Alumni Engagement & Development (AED) as needed on proposal development and with international directors and officer on multiple aspects of a prospect's progress toward major or leadership giving.
- Identify and pursue additional avenues for productive prospect research; projects may include exploration of leading companies, best addresses, children of wealth, etc. for international directors and officer.
- Maintain liaison with Business Intelligence on prospect identification.
- Track and report progress on cultivation and solicitation strategies for new and existing major gift prospects.

Reporting
- Design and generate reports for directors and officer showing status of gifts, amounts proposed, goals, results and other information related to fundraising efforts.
- Assist in gathering information for major gift proposals as needed.
- Prepare analyses setting forth progress and adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Participate in short and long range planning. Compile and summarize data and assist in
preparing regular and special reports requiring analysis and evaluation reports such as gift officer metrics, giving trends, pledge payments schedules, etc.
- Review reports received for supervisor; ensuring that reports are accurate and contain the requested information. These would include reports generated from the Moves Management System such as, officer moves and solicitation reports, prospect activity reports and DADD generated reports both individual giving and more complex reports from enquire.

Marketing and Promotion
- Coordinate newsletters to alumni and parents in Asia, Europe and Latin America. Maintain international mailing lists (Parent, Fuqua, Law, and General Alumni for Asia, Europe, and South America).
- Utilize LinkedIn and Facebook to reach targeted international prospects.

Donor Relations and Events
- Discern, establish and maintain an annual strategy for special events in a region that will be orchestrated by the International Directors.
- Partner with Special Events to oversee implementation of parlor dinners, cocktail receptions, etc. with varied goals related to audience, topic and outcomes.
- Arrange campus visits for donors coordinating with University Development and other gift officers and center, program, and institute directors.
- Meet with prospects and donors as needed

Administrative
- Provide logistical support for international travel. This requires a knowledge and awareness of regional differences, including modes of travel, complexity of comprehending addresses, languages and time zone adjustments.
- Maintain, review and reconcile international budgetary records.
- Responsible for ordering and purchasing gifts and supplies required for the activities of the international directors.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extremely well-developed project management skills, computer literacy, and communication skills as well as an understanding of the process of fundraising and an awareness/sensitivity to various cultures and customs.
  • Must be able to communicate professionally and confidently with a wide variety of constituents, including university administrators, major donors to the University, fundraising leadership and colleagues.
  • Must be able to handle many varied tasks and organize his/her workload to meet the needs of the directors.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information and issues on a daily basis.
  • Handle ad-hoc assignments and accompanying deadlines.

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

 

Education

Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

 

Experience

 

Work requires one year of experience in program administration or involving academic, instructional or counseling activities to acquire skills necessary to plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
