The Lee lab in the Department of Radiation Oncology is recruiting a Research Analyst I to study radiation-induced fibrosis in multiple organs including the heart and the gastrointestinal tract. This candidate will conduct various biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, histology, and animal experiments.
Job description
· Perform various animal experiments independently, including but not limited to mouse tattooing, handling, weaning, small animal irradiation, blood/tissue collection, drug injection, and cell transplantation.
· Perform various in vitro experiments independently, including but not limited to ELISA, PCR genotyping, cell culture, tissue processing/section, and immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescent staining.
· Analyze, evaluate, and interpret collected data and prepare reports
· Assist with maintaining lab mouse colony: set up crosses, perform tail clip biopsies, mark mice (tattoo, ear tag, etc.), and wean pups.
· Assist with managing IACUC protocols, IBC protocols, lab safety SOPs, and lab orders.
· Maintain an organized and complete lab notebook of lab mouse colony and experiments that are performed using these mice.
· For specific experiments, a group of mice will need to be assessed each day including weekends. This responsibility may be shared with other lab members
· Set up instruments, materials, and apparatus and operate standard laboratory equipment required for specific tests
· Teach and train new lab members with scientific techniques that you are familiar with.
· Meet with the PI (Dr. Lee) regularly to plan experiments, troubleshoot problems, and discuss results
· Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein
· Help provide a collegial, supportive, and professional working environment
· Must be detail-oriented, well organized with strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, interactive team environment
Anticipated Pay Range:
Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $50,439.00 to USD $76,417.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills, as well as internal peer equity, market trends, and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
