Position Summary
The Shoulder Research Scholar will be involved in a variety of clinical studies, both prospective and retrospective, including self-directed projects and collaborative projects with our Sports Orthopaedic faculty. The Research scholar will be fully involved in the clinical pathway while recruiting and consenting study participants, reviewing clinical data, and collecting follow up information from patients.
This is a 1-year position with possible renewal
Position Responsibilities
Assist in development of research hypothesis and conduction of literature reviews for various projects.
Preparation of research protocols and involvement in submission of applications to an institutional review board.
Collecting, organizing, and analyzing clinical research data.
Preparation of results for submission for academic publication and presentation to peers.
May assist in industry sponsored protocols as needed.
Attend and participate in both Duke Orthopaedic research and clinical conferences including Grand Rounds, Sports Conference, and Shoulder Research Meetings.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Education Requirements
While applicants may apply following the completion of a bachelor’s degree, preference will be given to applicants that have completed two or more years of medical school.
Applicants must be in good academic standing and have an interest in pursuing a career in orthopedic surgery.
Experience Requirements
Prior experience with collaborating on research protocols preferred.
