Duke Aesthetics Center - 3475 Erwin Rd *for training and will move to Cary in the spring
JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Sterile Processing Tech, Non-Certified in our Duke Aesthetics Center clinic located in Cary, NC to be an integral member of the healthcare team to provide direct and indirect care to patients.
$2,500 Commitment Bonus Eligible | Paid out in 2 equal installments over 12 months in 6-month increments.
**Only new hires who have not worked for Duke University Health System in the past 12 months (at the time of offer) are eligible to receive the Commitment bonus.**
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cleans, decontaminates, and disinfects scope
- Cleans, decontaminates, and disinfects instruments
- Assembles trays and equipment for processing
- Appropriately process scopes and instruments
- Promotes best practice by demonstrating quality care of the sterile processing environment
- Performs assigned duties to maintain unit in a state of survey readiness and maintain quality initiatives. For example: quality control measures, emergency equipment checks, and department cleanliness.
- Utilizes the appropriate instrument tracking system, sterilization tracking system, and sterilization load documentation
- Adheres to unit programs to support patient care, such as; maintaining a quiet environment, professionalism, and patient centered customer service
- Notify appropriate leaders for equipment or instruments in need of repair or replacement. Maintain an accurate log for equipment or instruments out for repair.
- Maintain a clean an orderly processing area
JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required (Employees hired before 2/18/19 are not required to have high school diploma or equivalent)
- Previous experience working in a healthcare environment preferred.
- Working knowledge of computer required. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and care/cleaning strongly preferred; knowledge of sterile techniques preferred.
- Certification in Sterile Processing and/or Technology required within 2 years of hire date - CSPDT (CBSPD) or CRCST (HSPA) (Employees hired before 2/18/2019 are not required to obtain certification)
