Job Overview
The Duluth Amateur Hockey Association (DAHA) is looking for a dynamic leader to oversee the administration and operations of the organization. The Executive Director will lead the mission of the organization to provide a safe and positive environment for all youth in the Duluth community to participate and excel through the sport of hockey.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans that align with the organization's mission and vision.
- Work with the DAHA Board of Directors (BOD) to fulfill the organization’s mission.
- Communicate effectively with the BOD and provide, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the BOD to function properly and to make informed decisions.
- Attend all BOD and (if possible) all District 11 meetings as well as run the monthly Rink Directors’ Meeting.
- Oversee staff and volunteers
- Oversee and design fundraising and marketing/sponsorship endeavors
- Work with BOD Treasurer and staff members to create and present a DAHA annual budget
- Serve as fiscal manager for DAHA through relationships with third-party bookkeeper, CPA, and BOD Treasurer
- Help enhance DAHA’s image and profile by being active and visible in the community and working closely with professional organizations and city of Duluth personnel.
- Review and evaluate staff needs and performance on an annual basis
- Serve as DAHA’s primary spokesperson to the organization’s constituents, the media, and the general public.
- Manage customer communication, both proactive and reactive, to address issues that arise
- Coordinate disciplinary appeals, protests, and discipline hearings in conjunction with the BOD Rules and Grievances Committee.
- Serve as the DAHA scheduler for all regular season practices
- Oversee Fryberger Arena rink operations and staff
- Negotiate contracts and partnerships that enhance organizational capabilities and reach.
- Manage budgets, resources, and personnel to optimize performance and achieve organizational goals.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business/marketing/communication or relevant work experience
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Previous non-profit experience preferred but not required
- Experience with fundraising and sponsorships
- Experience with creating and maintaining a budget
- Ability to work nights and weekends as needed
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a nonprofit or similar organization.
- Strong background in strategic planning and project management.
- Demonstrated success in business development and operations management.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to build consensus among diverse groups.
- Exceptional leadership abilities with a focus on team building and staff engagement.
- Experience in implementing process improvements that drive organizational success.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
