New Dunbar Early Education Center Opening August 2025

Primary Purpose:

Provide students with a focused exploratory learning approach with a strong emphasis on interactive experiences and creative learning environments across various themed “learning spaces” designed to promote holistic development through hands-on activities. Enable students to develop competencies and social skills.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's degree from accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned (early childhood)

Valid Texas teaching certification for ESL and/or Bilingual

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of subjects assigned

General knowledge of curriculum and instruction Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

At least one year student teaching or approved internship preferred

Required Training:

Each teacher employed as a pre-kindergarten teacher must complete at least 150 cumulative hours of continuing professional education (CPE) over a consecutive five-year period. Teachers who have not completed the required training prior to assignment must complete the first 30 hours before the end of their first school year and complete the additional CPE hours in the subsequent four years in order to continue providing instruction in a pre-kindergarten classroom. The above training may be waived if the teacher holds the following:

1. A graduate or undergraduate degree in early childhood education or early childhood special education;
2. A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential;
3. Certification accredited by Association Montessori International or through the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education; or
4. At least eight years’ experience teaching in a nationally accredited child care

Salary : $45,500 - $65,220
